Following the call for idea proposals, the IIDEA Team received a wealth of proposals which then underwent a first screening process. According to the selection criteria, all proposed projects have to be regional in character, that means involve project partners from at least two of the six EAC Partner States and they have to refer to the stipulations of the East African Community Common Market Protocol. Out of the 54 ideas submitted, 35 advanced to a second round of assessment and scoring by experts from the EAC Secretariat and the EAC-GIZ cooperation project. The top-scoring of these projects will undergo a process of technical advice in an online Hackathon to improve them and submit the final proposals to the IIDEA Committee for final selection.
Due to a number of unforeseeable circumstances, the start of the Hackathon has been delayed and put on hold for a while. The IIDEA Team is however following up and planning new dates for the continuation. Watch this space for more information and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates!
