IIDEA goes New York: clinicPesa pitching at the MIT Solve Global Challenge

IIDEA project clinicPesa was invited to apply for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Solve Global Challenge an initiative of MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology that advances lasting solutions from tech entrepreneurs to address the world’s most pressing problems. clinicPesa is a platform created by creativeDNA to provide access to health care financing to the uninsured through their mobile devices Instantly anywhere around East Africa.

The current challenge of MIT was focusing on areas such as health:

“In many places, the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic or mental health conditions can be nonexistent. While dramatic progress has been made, including the reduction of infant mortality rates worldwide, more than 50 million people a year still die of preventable and treatable conditions. Rural populations are often hours or days away from the nearest medical center, nurse, or physician. Even in communities with some access to primary care, many people cannot afford even the most essential health services. Across the globe, a health shock—wherein a family member falls sick and requires extensive care—has the potential to push millions back into poverty and debt.” (Frontlines of Health, MIT 2018)

The challenge’s focus was to open doors for startups to collaborate with investors, Global partners such as Google, GE, General Motors, Atlassian, Save the Children, Johnson and Johnson among others; and  initial financing opportunities with up to USD 1,000,000 for the startups among other opportunities to help scale and impact lives in the world.

In August 2018, clinicPesa was selected from over 1500 startups  worldwide as one of the 15 finalists in the frontlines of health category by Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) Solve and invited to pitch the clinicPesa solution to a panel of judges from various corporations, investors and prospect stakeholders in the globe from 21st to 24th September 2018 at Apella Event Space in New York City (USA).

clinicPesa through its collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines and MIT Solve was able to pitch in New York on the 23rd of September.

What did clinicPesa bring home from MIT SOLVE?

clinicPesa through the support of the community was awarded the Community Award on top of the overwhelming global partners and investor doors that opened up for clinicPesa. clinicPesa also attracted warm discussion to explore synergies with the giant Johnson and Johnson through its Vice President of Innovation on its creative healthcare financing for a potential collaboration in East Africa. It also opened up discussions with very interested private investors. clinicPesa is still getting more potential collaborations coming in with other global partners.
