Engaging the Private Sector: 20 Years of EABC Celebration

On 23 March 2018, the East African Business Council (EABC) celebrated its establishment in 1998 and 20 years of dedicated advocacy for the active role of the Private Sector in the East African Community integration process. The GIZ-EAC programme shared in the celebrations and conference with EABC and took this opportunity to highlight German support to private sector involvement in the economic, social and cultural integration of the EAC.

Since the start of German Development Cooperation with the EAC in 1998, support to private sector involvement and strengthening its advocacy capacities has been of great importance. In an interview with the Tanzanian Guardian, EAC-GIZ Programme Manager and Cluster Coordinator Dr Kirsten Focken pointed out how GIZ is supporting private sector and civil society engagement in regional integration.
